Topic: What do you (or the women in your life) call it?

Additional Comments: In DebS's post above she mentions her pocket book. Growing up, everyone always called it a purse. At some point in my adult life I started referring to it as a handbag. What do you call it?

It's a handbag. A purse is something that coin is kept in and is often carried in a handbag. The term pocket book is meaningless to me (ie, I know what it is, but it is not used in this neck of the woods.

A "handbag" is also the term used for a male companion on shopping trips or social outings ie, he is an accessory.

A purse is a purse of course, of course

And most women carry a purse, of course

Unless it has a designer tag

And then it’s called a bag!

I carry a purse.

The term pocketbook was what my Grandmother always called her purse...I think of a pocketbook as small....a purse medium....and a handbag big. Also 'Handbag' implies designer bag to me. I have a purse!! & a coin purse! Hey what about Tote, Satchel, etc....!?
